The Tampa Bay Pirates 8U Kid Pitch Competitive Travel Team has openings for 2 to 3 players. Our home field is located near the intersection of Hwy 301 and Fowler Ave. We will be playing a competitive schedule which will include pony league play, double headers and tournaments. Bradenton BEACH DAWGS are hosting 10U double headers February 25th and 26th in Bradenton. All teams are invited and welcome to enjoy a day (or two) of baseball. Just pay for umpires. If you are a family searching for the best place to have your son get from good to great, or from great to excellent, our coaches are committed accomplishing this goal in each player. We pride ourselves on helping each player find the excellence within themselves and then perfect it, while also focusing on building character and integrity in these boys to take beyond the baseball field. Winning is great and fun, but life is much more vast than just W's.
Our rules of baseball are simple: 1) Have Fun! This is a game and we will never forget it is there to have fun. 2) Respect. players will respect and encourage themselves, each other, other teams, their coaches, umpires, and the honor and integrity of the game. 3) Honor your commitment.
Practices are held 3x per week from 3:30?5:30pm.
Optional Midweek Series games are played on Wednesday nights, sometimes mixing 10s and 11s for everyone to get more reps and to get practice in positions that they don't normally play on the weekend.
We have an aggressive "family friendly" games schedule. Most games are played in doubleheaders on Saturday late afternoon/evenings, with one tournament per month (i.e. only one Sunday per month), and one weekend offer per month. In total, between January 21 and May 31, our teams will play 40--50 games each.
Despite the aggressive game schedule, kids can still play rec ball (LL or Cal-Ripken) as our schedule is built around those game commitments. Yes, Double Baseball is an option! The Tampa Stars 11U team is looking for a 2 players, born after May 1, 2000. One player that can play the position of catcher and another player that is a team player. The Tampa Stars are a developmental team that is not Daddy ball. Our players earn their positions and roster order based on play and practice performance and not on the fact that the dad is a coach. The Tampa Stars coaches understand that winning is important for player moral and parents spirits to brag, but they are more concerned with developing the players to learn how to play and think about the game the right way so that they can be prepared to play at the high school level and beyond. We practice 2 nights a week for 2-3 hours at a time, play in the WCFBL, one tournament, and try to schedule a double header or three-way play per month.
